Considered by many to be the world’s most beloved opera, Bizet’s Carmen has it all: a melodic score, exotic
characters, and a tale of ill-fated love that escalates to a tragic conclusion. Internationally renowned director Robert Swedberg stages two professional casts (click here to read about the casts), chorus and dancers, giving life to gypsies, thieves and townsfolk in 19th century Sevilla. Sung in French (with projected English supertitles) and complemented by a full orchestra led by Warren Puffer Jones, this production of Carmen is AOT’s most ambitious to date. Let Carmen seduce you, but take care — her temptation may prove fatal!
