Based on actual events and an 1819 novel by Sir Walter Scott, Lucia tells the story of a fragile girl forced to marry a man she doesn’t love. She takes matters into her own hands, but at a cost too great to bear. From the masterful sextet to the famous “mad-scene,” this opera is full of transcendent moments that will remind you why opera is the greatest of all art forms.
